La Parrilla was awarded the National Award for Best Mexican Restaurant.

Last 10th of July in México City, was the awards ceremony for “Best Mexican Restaurant,” organized by National CANIRAC, which is given annually to the best restaurants in the country. Within the category "Mexican Regional Kitchen," La Parrilla, Cancún, Quintana Roo, competed with 21 selected restaurants from around the country and was awarded Best Mexican Restaurant, "Jóse Peza Fragoso."

The judges were as follows: Lic. Rodolfo Elizondo Towers, Secretary of Tourism; C.P. Raul Alexander Padilla Orozco, National President of CONCANACO SERVYTUR; Mr. Gordon Viberg, President of CNET; Dra. Julieta Fields, Secretary of Tourism of the Federal District; Ing. Mario Sanmiguel President of American Express; C.P. Juan Beckman, President of House Crow; Lic. Manuel Rubiralta Diaz, Executive President of Bacardí and Cía; Ing. Jose Octavio Kings Lagoons, Coca-Cola Mexico President; and Ing. Rafael Saaverdra, National President of CANIRAC.

During the month of June, the judges evaluated the menus, recipes, popularity, work systems, awards, symbols, qualification programs and other factors to determine the winners of this contest. La Parrilla covered more than 20 requirements to be able to compete and to obtain victory in a competition with 21 participants from the States of Puebla, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Morelia, San Luís Potosí, which are distinguished by their excellent Mexican kitchen.

The award is a black statuette with a green stone from the mountains of Chiapas that symbolizes the certainty, the commitment, the effort, and the union of the restaurant.

We would also like to mention that another member of the restaurant community in Cancún participated as well. The restaurant Hong Kong, participated in the short list of finalists under the category "Foreign Kitchen."

The award ceremony is attended by Lic. Francisco Lopez MENA, President of the Commission of Tourism of the House of Representatives and Lic. Districts Knoll, representative of the Government of Quintana Roo in the City of Mexico, giving support to the restaurants from Quintana Roo that were named.

For La Parrilla, receiving this recognition means continuing our commitment to the culinary wealth of Mexico; this recognition is the fruit of our labor for all the members of La Parrilla.
