Mocambo Restaurant was granted the “National Prize to the Best Restaurant of Regional Mexican Food”

Last Friday, July 6 the award ceremony for the “ Restaurant Management Merit Prize 2007” took place in Mexico City, this contest is organized by the National CANIRAC and it is granted every year to the best restaurants in the country.
In the category for "Mexican Regional Cuisine" the Mocambo Restaurant which is part of the Grupo La Parrilla de Cancun, Quintana Roo, competed with 18 restaurants that where selected from the entire Mexican Republic, it was awarded with the "Restaurant Management Merit Prize Jose Peza Fragoso", the finalists were Mocambo from Quintana Roo, and Panteon Taurino from Guanajuato.

It is worthwhile mentioning that most of the restaurants registered so they could to participate in this contest and others were proposed by the Mexican Tourism Promotion Council, which was the case of the Mocambo Restaurant.
The examining jury was formed by 29 well known personalities of the management media related with the tourism and restaurant industries of the country; among them were: Lic. Rodolfo Elizondo, Secretary of Tourism, Lic. Francisco Lopez Mena, Director of the Mexican Tourism Promotion Council, Mr. Ismael Plascencia Nuñez President of CONCAMIN, Mr. Gordon F. Viberg President of the National Tourism Management Council, also other directors of companies like Coca Cola, International Beers, American Express Company, Casa Pedro Domecq, Casa Cuervo and Bacardi y Cia.
During June the examining jury evaluated the trajectory, menus, original recipes, popularity, work systems, recognitions, distinguishing characteristics, training programs and other factors to determine the winners of this competition; Mocambo covered the 20 requirements that the edict stated in order to be able to compete and obtained the first place in the competition, there were 18 participants among which were prestigious restaurants from the States of Puebla, Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Guanajuato, Morelia, San Luis Potosi just to mention some of them, which are distinguished for their excellent Mexican cuisine.
The prize is a green and black metallic statue , which symbolizes perseverance, commitment, effort and the union of the restaurant union .
It is important to remember that La Parrilla Restaurant was granted this same prize in 2004. To receive this prize once more, now for the Mocambo Restaurant is the result of the effort and commitment for promoting Mexico’s great culinary ; this recognition is the result of the investigation, training and team work of all the members' of the Grupo La Parrilla.
